LED Lightings


A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. LED lighting has been around since the 1960s, but only in1993 LEDs are created from  blue indium gallium chip with a phosphor coating that is used to create the wave shift necessary to emit white light from a single diode. This process is much less expensive for the amount of light generated.


LED light has no Ultra Violet, Infra Red, or Radio Frequency emissions and features engineered heat displacement which prevents premature LED failure. Without filaments, the LED are unaffected by magnetic fields.


The operational life of current white LED lamps is approximately 50,000 hours.  The long operational life of an LED lamp has an edge over incandescent bulb, which is approximately 5000 hours. If the lighting device needs to be embedded into a very inaccessible place, using LEDs would virtually eliminate the need for routine bulb replacement.

Even though the initial cost of LED lights are higher than the traditional incandescent options but the total cost which includes of operational cost will lesser than the incandescent bulbs.  the operational cost is inclusive of the power consumption, cost of replacement bulbs, the labor expense and time needed to replace them. These are significant factors, especially where there are a large number of installed bulbs. For office buildings and skyscrapers, maintenance costs to replace bulbs can be enormous. These issues can all be virtually eliminated with the LED option.

Efficiency: The most important thing in the LED lights when it used aptly, its efficiency which will be above 75%.  Only less than 25% will be lost as heat energy. This leads to the lesser  power consumption with higher lumens (lm) output.


LED Design and Usage: LEDs outperforms incandescent or fluorescent bulbs when it is used in a single direction. Because of their directional output, they can be cleverly designed to have a  unique features that can be used for different purpose. LED in the forms of strip lights can be used under counters and in the form of concentrated array can be used for for room lighting. Waterproof design can be used for outdoors.

  • Spot Light used in showroom, hotels and even as reading lamp

  • Strip lighting used in counters and under kitchen cabinets

  • Low Bay lights for Stair and walkway lighting

  • High Bay lights for Industries

  • Art lighting

  • Night lights

  • Pendants and overhead

A Comparison: LED lights are more rugged and damage-resistant than compact fluorescents and incandescent bulbs. LED lights don't flicker. As they are provided with heat sink, the excessive heat factor which reduces  the life of the light will be eliminated.  LED lights are independent of climatic conditions. It work in the cold as well as in the hot climatic conditions. In several factors, the LED has an edge over the CFL.
